We’re teaming up with The Moxie for a free, back-to-school screening of “Dead Poet’s Society.”
Film summary: In 1959, English teacher John Keating (Robin Williams) takes a position at a conservative, all-boys New England boarding school. Keating helps his students maneuver the pressures of demanding class schedules, high standards of conduct and well-intentioned parents by encouraging them to challenge the status quo. Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke), Neil Perry (Robert Sean Leonard) and the rest of their classmates encounter secret brotherhoods, romantic misadventures, encouraging victories and devastating blows as they learn to muster the courage to pursue their dreams and seize the day.
Don’t miss this inspiring, award-winning film. In 1990, “Dead Poets Society” screenwriter Tom Schulman won an Academy Award for best original screenplay. Robin Williams was nominated for best actor in a leading role. Peter Weir was nominated for the best director Oscar and the film competed for the best picture award.
